My Story:
Hello, thanks for visiting www.letsplayschool.com. You are looking at an idea that has been incubating for over 20 years. Having taught elementary students in North Carolina for 31 years, I was aware that students clamored for "old teacher stuff". As soon as I tossed something into the trash can, it was quickly retrieved by a pupil. (several rushing pupils) When questioned why, the constant reply came, "I use it to play school." So, I began to save the throw-aways and divvy them out to smiling eager faces. Even if a pupil might appear to sometimes dislike school they threw their hands in the air for the freebies. This gave me great satisfaction since I remembered the same pleasures in my childhood.

Background:
Teaching. Now that's an honorable profession. Or, at least my southern family must have thought so! Doing some arithmetic I find that in my immediate family there is a total of 152 years of educating pupils. For those of you who like numbers, think of it this way:

50% of my grandmothers taught
66 2/3 % of my aunts (I had three.)
100% of my siblings (I have one sister.)
100% of my off-springs (I have one daughter.)

This web site is dedicated to a teacher. You aren't surprised are you? Yes, this is to my Irish teacher/principal, Grandmother Mollie, who really did ride in a horse-drawn buggy at the turn of the century to teach in a one room schoolhouse. (No, she didn't walk in the snow.) You'll be hearing more about her IN THE BOOK. She is now Miss Tuffy's guardian angel.
